I’m so lucky as a wedding photographer to see some absolutely beautiful wedding flowers on a weekly basis! Wedding flowers are an integral part of a wedding day but that doesn’t mean it has to be what most people expect it to be.
I have seen some beautiful dried bridal bouquets recently – an amazing way to keep the flowers after the wedding day.
I have also photographed a wedding where the bride attended a bridal bouquet workshop before her wedding day so she could make her own. She did an absolutely incredible job! I have also had a bride that had family members grow the specific flowers she wanted for her bouquet so that they could have a staring role in her bridal bouquet. She also cut flowers from her Grandad’s garden who had sadly passed away before the wedding. It was a beautiful way to honour her beloved Grandad in her wedding day.
Flowers can bring so many precious memories & are a wonderful way to inject your personality into the wedding day. Flowers for your wedding certainly don’t have to be boring & bland.
Your wedding florist, if you are having one, will be able to talk to you about what flowers will be in season at the time of your wedding & help you choose what would be best. Your florist will also chat to you about an expected budget. What you have to bear in mind is that your choice of flowers & what is in season will massively reflect the overall cost of your flowers.
When you go for a consultation with your florist you might want to take a bit of info with you. A colour palette or theme for your wedding, if you’ve decided, would be useful to your florist. If you have chosen your wedding dress / outfit it might be worth taking an image so they can suggest a shape or style that compliments it. You may have absolutely no idea what you want & you might want to allow your florist full control over your flowers.
