I started out my wedding photography journey by trying to please everyone. No matter what style / shots you wanted, I’d do them. It was a detriment to my creative flair & the journey I went on finding my style & niche was a massive one.
As a documentary wedding photographer I focus on the moments, the story telling & I photograph people in candid moments rather going around the room getting people to pose.
My lovely couples that book me to photograph their weddings do so because they are looking for that relaxed, natural documentary style with a healthy dose of beautiful & creative portraiture. Just because my couples love my work for the relaxed approach doesn’t mean I don’t understand that unless you are eloping, the wedding day isn’t just about the two of you.
There’s a good chance your parents & grandparents will want to have a shot of the two of you that one of my recent couples described as ‘the money shot’. Looking straight into the camera & smiling. That’s the money shot to them – one that they can hang in a beautiful frame & show to everyone that visits.
Alongside a few group shots, these photographs are really popular with your parents & grandparents (or maybe other relatives that are particularly close to you). They take no longer than a few minutes & they will be chuffed when they see the finished result! Most of the time I get them in a very natural way without you even realising it!
