How To Make Your Wedding, You.

You start your wedding planning like most people – either with a Pinterest board or a stack of bridal magazines that have so many stunning weddings inside.

You may be thinking you want a beautiful, rustic wedding. Maybe something totally organic in the countryside. Perhaps you like the idea of an industrial feel wedding in a warehouse or in a minimalistic gallery. Whatever your perfect idea of the wedding you might start to come up against opposition from parents or family members that had other ideas about your wedding plans.

It’s so easy to forget your original vision & go with what other people suggest because it’s easier to keep the peace. (Wedding planning can do weird things to some people!) You don’t want to go middle of the road because that’s not what you are. You are unique & full of personality – that’s exactly how your wedding should be too.

Here are a few tips to help you stick to your vision & really make your wedding your own!

Find The Feelings

A great place to start when planning your wedding day is to think about how you want to feel on your wedding day. Then you can think about how you want your guests to feel right alongside you.

Do you want a more laid back feeling with an intimate finish? Would you like your guests to be able to casually mingle while relaxing in a beautiful setting? Do you want to be able to party hard until the sun sets & comes back up again or do you want everyone to just feel like they are home from home?

Imagine your best idea of a party that makes you feel happy & then make that into a reality with your wedding. Make it as big or as small as you want to.

Start New Traditions

Just because lots of other people did their weddings a certain way doesn’t mean you have to as well. If you want to change up some ‘traditions’ then why not! Don’t be afraid to mix it up by getting rid of some traditions or altering them to fit what you want.

Want to alter the timeline from the standard wedding day tradition. Then go for it! There are no rules when it comes to your wedding so make it your own. Maybe you don’t want to be ‘given away’ by someone when you’re walking down the aisle. Perhaps you want to rock the solo approach or maybe you want to enter together side by side as you will be in your marriage?

If some things make you uncomfortable or you just don’t like them feel free to leave them out & add things that do represent you both as a couple.

Budget In The Right Places

One way to really make your wedding all about you is to focus your budget in the right areas. Weddings can be expensive, there’s no doubting that. Being savvy on where you budget & what you spend on is the BEST way to make your wedding the special occasion it should be.

List the top three things that are the most important factors in your wedding & plan your budget around this.

Choosing The Right Suppliers

The right suppliers will have your back. The right suppliers will make your wedding the relaxed, happy day it should be.

It’s absolutely essential that you find suppliers that share your vision & can make it spring to life with their expertise and knowledge. Take your time looking for the right people that become part of your team & really make your wedding shine.

The right suppliers will also guide you in your choices as to what works & what doesn’t while always sharing your end goal.

Share Your Vision

Sometimes, I think we forget that we see so many new & interesting trends within weddings that other people not connected to the industry or not planning a wedding don’t see.

If you have an idea that your parents or friends are unable to visualise (like flower crowns or a naked wedding cake) then show them an inspiration photograph & tell them why you love it so much. Even if they can’t visualise it after then, they will see how amazing all these things are when they see them on your day.

Relax & Enjoy It

The day goes so quickly that you need to remember to enjoy it & relax. Don’t get downhearted if there are some people that don’t share your vision. Just remember to roll with it & make it your own. There are going to be people that know you are creating something that makes you both happy & that is all that matters.
